I had a phone call with a law firm today, about what I consider some significant mistreatment that should be (1) made whole and (2) prevented from happening again.
Apparently I have been underestimating how thoroughly the legal system refuses to acknowledge the lived experience of its subjects. It seems there are an awful lot of "you should have"s in the applicable jurisprudence, "you should have"s that are nearly impossible under actual lived circumstances. Legal fictions.
I, too, "should have," legally. But I couldn't, actually. So.
It is good to know that I would likely be wasting my time, verdict-wise.
But, from an authenticity perspective, screaming loudly and legally about my lived experience in the hopes that one time someone in power will listen and *actually help make things better* sounds like a good use of my time.
(I apologize for the cheesy hashtag but the search function is useless.)
Edit: moved an asterisk for readability.
@Cassandra How else do we know? Thank you.
