I'm more convinced than ever that the left needs to frame their arguments around the right to health and medical care to counter the culture wars waged by the ruling classes.

This is especially true in the USA where it's become blatantly obvious over the past few weeks that health transcends political divides.
Healthcare is a fundamental issue.

And also, we in the West are getting older... We're going to need it.

In light of all the studies linking the "endless scrolling" mechanism as well as suggestion algorithms to actual health risks (literally brainrot) I'd love to see a fedi client that gets rid of it in favour of a design that merely shows you what you haven't seen yet, in chronological order, separated into multiple pages.

If there isn't anything new - well, empty window with "come back later :)" it is!

Mitochondria are dynamic, constantly shifting in size, number and location, traveling between many different parts of the cells to meet different demands.

Researchers have been studying #Parkinson’s disease and the role of mitochondria for over a decade and have now identified a key protein that could lead to advances in treatments for Parkinson’s and other brain conditions.

The ConversationMitochondria keep your brain cells alive − helping them run smoothly may protect against Parkinson’s diseaseAs the powerhouse of the cell, mitochondria lie at the intersection of many essential biochemical pathways. When they go awry, neurodegenerative diseases can result.

It's really weird being more fit and lighter at 31 than when I was a teenager. Because I was quite large my entire life including as a kid, never getting below about 230 at 6 feet tall once grown.

I weigh 170 now and it's kinda new to me. I have some observations -

Pros- Stairs mean nothing, I can sleep anywhere, more clothes at thrift stores, more confident.

Cons- Always cold now, have no ass & hard surfaces suck, can't eat like trash.

In terms of #public health, next four years are going to be a #nightmare.

Americans are attacking Dr. Peter #Hotez, co-director for the Center for #Vaccine Development at #Texas Children’s Hospital and a recognized expert in the field, because he talked about bird flu.

Planning, research, and preventive measures are the only ways to stop pandemics. USA does not deserve a leadership role in the fields of science and medicine.

“A key legal adviser to Robert Kennedy Jr, Donald Trump’s pick for health secretary, is at the center of efforts to push federal drug regulators to revoke approval for the polio and hepatitis B vaccines and block distribution of 13 other critical vaccines.”

The Guardian · RFK Jr key adviser petitioned regulators to revoke approval of polio vaccineBy Ed Pilkington

"#Kennedy, #Trump’s choice for health secretary, has said that he does not want to take away access to any vaccines. But as he prepares for his confirmation hearing and plans a fresh health agenda, his continuing close partnership with Mr. Siri suggests that vaccine policy will be under sharp scrutiny. It is a chilling prospect to many public health leaders, especially those who recall the deadly toll of some vaccine-mitigated diseases."
